So yesterday was officially my last day of my college career!
WHOA! I finished my last day of student teaching and said goodbye to my cute 2nd graders (I am so sad, I forgot to take a picture with them).
But talk about bittersweet. I am excited to be done and finally be able to put my college education to use (...well, hopefully if I can get a teaching job) but at the same time I am not quite sure if I am ready for the real world, let alone if it is ready for ME! BYU has been sooo good to me, I could never imagine being anywhere else for college.
I don't think it all hit me until later today. First I spent the morning at the U of U to take a test to be able to teach in California. It was weird to contrast that campus with BYU. Now I don't mean to knock U of U (esp. since I have only been on the campus like three brief times), but I mean it just felt... for lack of a better word, messy. There was writing all over the bathroom stalls and posters and fliers plastered everywhere within the building.
Once I got back, Chris and I went to the spring Blue vs. White BYU football game. It was when I heard the fight song, that it hit me. I thought, I will never really hear this again... and I feel silly to admit, but I almost got a bit teary-eyed.
Anyway, earlier this week I was browsing different "arts and crafts" blogs and it really made me want to go and be creative. I had the excuse to do it because I wanted to get/make something for my mentor teacher. So I finally headed to the local craft store to get some necessary items. Lets just say that a hot glue gun and hodge-podge are necessary items for EVERY household. I especially love hodge-podge!
So I made her some magnets (basically like the ones I made before, shown in a much earlier post) with both just a cute design and then others that said teacher inspiring things like "love, teach, lead"... These are super easy and turn out great, this would be a wonderful idea for teacher gifts (which is way in the future for us) or for any other gift. Also, it was really easy to just put them back in the mesh type bag the magnets came in for the gift wrap. I also took a bottle that originally held crystal light packets and wrapped it in scrapbook paper and made it into a pencil/pen holder. This is also SUPER easy.
(sorry the pictures are so bad, our camera is pretty old).
