So this past week I have had a lot of time to ponder on adversity, in between a Relief Society lesson on it, studying for next weeks gospel doctrine lesson and other ways. I just have some quick thoughts...
first this talk by Elder Eyring is AMAZING! I highly recommend reading it. But overall I have learned that we should be grateful for adversity, these are the things that give us experience to grow. Also it is a testament that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be more refined. Additionally, we should think of trials almost as a COMPLIMENT from our Father in Heave, meaning that he has faith enough in our abilities to give us the trials. But most of all we should ENJOY THIS JOURNEY and count our BLESSINGS!
Lastly, today I was driving to the gym and this song came on. I have heard it before but never really listened to the lyrics. (I love how music can have such an amazing impact). It is by Kenny Chesney w/ Dave Matthews called "I'm Alive". I have put the lyrics below and also a clip fo the song. It is Beautiful... take a listen!
So "darn" easy to say that life's so hard
Everybody's got their share of battle scars
As for me I'd like to thank my lucky stars that
I'm alive and well
It'd be easy to add up all the pain
And all the dreams you've sat and watch go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain
But not me... I'm alive
And today you know that's good enough for me
Breathing in and out's a blessing can't you see
Today's the first day of the rest of my life
And I'm alive and well
I'm alive and well
Stars are dancin' on the water here tonight
It's good for the soul when there's not a soul in sight
This motor's caught its wind and brought me back to life
Now I'm alive and well
And today you know that's good enough for me
Breathing in and out's a blessing can't you see
Today's the first day of the rest of my life
Now I'm alive and well
Yeah I'm alive and well
Friday, August 28
... I'm Alive and well...
