Waimea Canyon - Kauai

After arriving in Kauai late Saturday night we quickly grabbed some groceries for the following day and headed to our condo at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club.

Sunday (4th of July) we woke up and headed to the nearest ward in Koloa. It was funny to see all the tourists filling up the whole back section of the congregation and to hear everyone start their talks with "Aloha".

We decided to take a drive and a hike in the Waimea Canyon... which is like the Grand Canyon of Hawaii. It was a beautiful drive and a nice way to see quite a bit of the island. We stopped at a look out (the first pictures below) to see the canyon in all its glory! It was beautiful and immense.

We took about a two mile hike in to take us to a high point in the canyon. The views from here were stunning also!

Once at the top My dad (with his bad back) and me (with my sinus cold) decided to hang at the top while the others took a small hike down to some little falls/swimming hole, pictured below.

After our hike we came home a relaxed (I napped to try and help recover from my nasty cold). Then we all pitched in to make a yummy dinner.

It was a great day to start off our trip and get to see the beautiful sights, we are so lucky to have such beautiful places on the earth!!!

When we went to Kauai, we didn't go to the south part of the island or to Waimea Canyon. There's just too much to do! :) So I'm glad to see your pics - so beautiful!
