Halloween

So we did some fun things this Halloween

First we carved our pumpkins (which we haven't done for a couple of years)
I carved a "j" for Jones, of course. I had a lack of creativity this year- so I tried to spruce it up some with paint too. Chris did the apple (Mac) sign... but no he is not a totally techie or Mac snob... that is just what he wanted to do- and I think it turned out well. I also baked pumpkin seeds for the first time this year. They turned out pretty good.

We got invited to a Halloween party by our friends, the Woolfords. Chris and I thought all week long what we could be (wothout spending too much)- so we came up with these costumes. Of courase we had to represent the LAKERS! I know I am quite frightning and many people have told me it was a very convincing costume ( I don't know if that is a good thing). I was very impressed with the NBA trophy that Chris made. You will have to google pictures of both Phil Jackson and Sasha Vujacic to see if we did a good job. We had a great time at the party and came home the champions of the Donut game!

Saturday I went to the Ward Halloween Party while Chris was at the USC v. Oregon Game with his brother Wes. I had to go to the party because my Young Women were in charge of a booth- which we did face painting. It was fun thought to see all the little kids in their costumes!

Then on Halloween we got together with Chris' parents and the Nielsens (Chris' sister's family) for dinner and a little bit of trick or treating. It was really fun to see my nieces and nephews in the costumes. Katie made them all! I can't wait til we have kids of our own to dress up and take trick or treating.

Saturday Soccer!

Last Saturday (Halloween) Chris and I went to see our niece, Maddie, and our nephew, Carter, play in their soccer games. It was a beautiful sunny day and was so fun to watch them play. It is so fun to live close to Chris's family so that we can go to all the things like this.

As far as Halloween.. we had a nice homemade chicken noodle soup before heading out to go trick-or-treating with Katie's Kiddos!

Top 10 Recap

Ok so I have been absent from the blogging world and I ask for your forgiveness. I was going to post this like a week ago and my computer started acting FUNKY...and then well, I got sick and did not have the energy to do it over and post it... but here it is!

Here are the top 10 things that have happened in our lives in no particular order...
(Can you tell from the list that we have been pretty busy to have really much "fun")

1. The elections, and more importantly the election coverage is over... no more annoying politicians bashing each other endlessly through commercials and no more of the elections taking over all news coverage.

2. Sunday dinners over at the Bussey's (my parents). Let me tell you how nice it is not to have to cook on Sundays!

3. Finishing the 3rd book in the Fablehaven series. If you like Harry Potter and are looking for a fun, quick read pick up this series!

4. Getting a new nephew, Coleman Wesley Jones!

5. Teaching... it is moments like this that make me love teaching: Getting an email from a parent who was so impressed by how much their child learned about elections from my lessons. And it is moments like this that make me not like it so much: the stress of preparing for report cards and parent/teacher conferences.

6. Visiting the temple two weeks in a row!

7. Our uneventful Halloween, which consisted of Chris and I scaring my mom at their front door and then eating all my brother's leftover candy.

8. 30 Rock! Ok, if you do not watch this show... you are missing out on funniest 30 minutes of the week. Let's just say that Tina Fey is a Genius. You know a show is good when even OPRAH will make a guest appearance!

9. Chris and I getting called and teaching our rambunctious class of CTR 8's in Primary. ( Let's just say there is a lot of energy in one room with six 8-yr.-old boys and 2 girls!)

10. Listening to like 10 books on tape the past months during my commute. Let me tell you I highly recommend this!

Happy Hallow's Eve... early

Well tonight we finally got the chance to carve our pumpkins. I was so excited to carve them, I haven't done it for at least three years! Chris was excited to try this idea that he had seen his good friend John Reeves do years ago and I cheated and got this idea from a pattern on-line because I was at a loss for ideas. (If you can't tell mine is supposed to be a mummy). We don't really have a porch or even really a doorstep at our apartment because we basically share like a 2 foot by 2 foot space with our neighbors. We are so close that our door mats overlap, so we had to get a little creative on where to put the pumpkins, so luckily we have a little ledge close to our door so we put them there.
This will probably be our only Halloween activity for the year so I am glad we got to do it. And I am also glad that neither of us lost a finger or cut a huge gash in our hands. We would not like to have to go back to the ER for a LONG time.
We hope you all have a wonderful HALLOWEEN!!! We will be excited to hear what everyone did and what they dressed as.
