...152 insights into my soul.

...This was said by the insightful and "enchanting" Kathleen Kelly about NY152... her true LOVE. Well my 152 insights to my soul come from the movie it is quoted from- that's right,

YOU'VE GOT MAIL!

I am not a person who usually loved to watch the same movies over and over again... but one that I can is You've Got Mail. And I am one lucky girl because I feel like it is played every weekend on one of the cable channels like TBS or TNT. Well I recorded it last weekend and with not having to work today (even though I should be cleaning or doing something productive) I decided to watch it today and it made me realize that this movie does have those 152 insights into my soul!

I love all romantic comedies... but I think it just shows how wonderful this movie is because the one I like the most BY FAR has the least attractive male role (Tom Hanks) of all rom-coms! Even with his funny curly hair and not-toned physique I still love his character Joe F-O-X! And who couldn't love Meg Ryan (at least her pre-plastic surgery days).

Here are some of the "insights to my soul" this movie offers:
  • If I ever have a dog I think I would have to name it Brinkley
  • The only "Godfather" movie lines I know are from this movie... "going to the mattresses" or "Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday"
  • I hope and pray that I can TWIRL with my daughters in the future.
  • Kathleen/Story Book Lady reads an autobiography, "BOY", by my ALL time Favorite Children's author Roald Dahl. See...she totally is on the same wave length as me!
  • I have a strong desire to write almost "poetically" like they do with each other in the movie.
  • Most of Meg Ryan's outfits in the movie I would still LOVE to wear today- even 12 years later. You can never go wrong with cardigans. But most of all I want the outfit she wears in the last seen in Riverside park- what a cute dress!
  • Above all else- I want to be Kathleen in this movie because she has my dream job. If I am ever rich and have money to spare I want to open my own "Shop Around the Corner" and sell children's books. I want to be able to share my LOVE of children's literature with others. If you know me well you know I always have my bedside table FULL of at least 5 children's book that I want to read (before I have to return them every few weeks to the library). I want to be creative and get to set up cute and charming displays in the store front. I want to be the "storybook Lady" and get to read books out loud- with silly voices too- and have no one judge me for it. I want to put all the purchased books in cute tote bags like in the movie. I want my customers to be "regulars" and know me by name. Some day....

If you EVER are in the mood to watch one of the best movies ever (jut my opinion I guess) feel free to call me us cus I will never turn down the offer!

*** The only other movie that is on the same level with me, that I could watch over and over again, is Little Women!

Update

So I have been a lazy blogger... been busy doing other things but here is a run-down of some recent happenings:

Moving in

  • So our move went quite smoothly, except for having to haul everything up our tight stairwell. Thanks to Chris Nielsen and Chris' Dad for helping! Everything has a spot and we feel pretty settled. I feel like I can be a full-fledged homemaker in our new place. We just need to do some more hanging of pictures on walls and slowly fill some of our furniture needs. Since I have been a lazy blogger I have yet to take any pictures of the place.

Jobs
  • So I have continued working as a tutor for the past little while. At times it doesn't seem worth it for the few hours I work but I will say it has been amazing to see how these struggling students have blossomed. ALSO I have since been hired by Three other Districts as a SUBSTITUTE...however with all the paper work and processing I am waiting to get cleared and start getting calls to sub. I can't wait to get back in the classroom...even if it is not my own.
My trip to Arizona
  • My parents and little brother were planning on going to their timeshare in AZ before thanksgiving and then go on to visit my grandparents serving their mission on the Navajo reservation further east. Well so awhile back they asked if I wanted to join them for a few day in AZ (while Chris has to work hard and home to study). I of course happily accepted. So for a few days last week I spent with the fam in AZ just relaxing. We got to relax by the pool, watch lots of movies (including NEW MOON... which has converted me to TEAM JACOB), and eat a lot (esp. my mom's addiction to Paradise Bakery cookies... which I think is rubbing off on me)! I felt bad though since one of the days their my dad suffered from food poisoning all day. Also I really missed Chris and our new home while I was gone. And I felt bad that I missed my niece, Maddie's, Baptism.

Maddie's Baptism
  • Like I mentioned I missed Maddie's baptism and felt bad to not be there. But the re-cap from Chris was good... I got to see pictures of her cute (hand made by Grammy) baptism dress, hear Chris' Baptism Talk he gave, and so forth. We are sure proud of Maddie's decision!
Thanksgiving
  • So Chris was soooo excited to finally have a Thanksgiving at his parents' house since it had been way to long. We got to celebrate the day with his parents and Katie and Chris' family. It was a delicious spread of food from Chris' mom who always out does herself. We appreciate all her hard work! Then after pie and letting our food settle we headed to the movies. We saw Blind Side, which was EXCELLENT! It was a very positive and funny movie. Highly recommend it!

The Red Balloon

So today I watched the French movie: The Red Balloon

What a darling movie! It was made in the 50's and is only like 35 minutes long. The little boy in the movie is adorable, I especially love the way he runs. It is such a simple movie... no big flashing add ons... just a boy and his balloon and their sweet relationship. I miss good old movies like this. I highly recommend it!

Here is a sweet lil' clip... ENJOY

Cockroache= cute...WHAT!?!

Last night Chris and I went with Katie, Chris and the Kids to go see Wall-E. I am glad we live by them so that Chris and I have an excuse to go see this "kid" flicks on opening night!

Pixar does it again... they wowed me with the amazing "animation" while still putting together a well thought out story line. Never in my life would I thought I would utter the words "that cockroach was so cute" but its true... so much that you care if the little sidekick lives or not.

Also, who knew a love story could be real and endearing when played by two robots! I haven;t said "awww" so much in a long time. I also learned the lesson that words are not needed to communicate love (since there is VERY little dialogue in the whole movie).

Additionally a hunk of metal has never so deeply touched my heart. I just wanted to reach in and grab Wall-E off the screen and take him home with me.

This movie was great... it is different from all the other pixars though. It defiantly has some abstract stuff (like robots in love) in it that goes way over children's heads but still they love it while the parents and other adults will be glad they promised their youngins' they would take them.

AMAZING...

ok so my dad sent me this clip the other day, in honor of MARCH MADNESS!

well honestly, this is madness, this video is CRAZY! You must watch it!

...Speaking of March Madness... Chris and I have strong feelings towards it... our first date was watching a March Madness game. ( I must have won him over with my sports smarts...ha!). But we have a tradition to compete against each other in a bracket competition. I beat Chris last year. And I am proud to say, as of like 9:00 pm today I am BEATING him! (and honestly, this year I put absolutely no thought into my picks, which makes my current lead even BETTER!)

POWER of Advertising

Ok so who ever Mac pays to find the music for thier commercials...they should be greatly rewarded! You know how we all have songs that no matter what or how many times we hear them, they make us overflow with happiness. Well for me...this would be about every song found in the Mac commercials. I mean, come on... the Feist song "1...2...3...4" made me so happy I went out and bought my own new nano video i-pod ahile ago. Ok but the BEST Mac song yet is for the new macbook air (which I want so bad but will never be able to afford one...haha) which is by the wonderful French artist Yael Naim (I think this is a hebrew name) called "New Soul". She is such a cute artist and I thought her video for the song is super creative and of course just HAPPY. So I promise it won't be a waste of your time to click the video below.

ok also...another great song, "Music Box" from a commercial is by Regina Spektor (another GREAT artist). This is for a J.C. Penny's commercial from awhile ago but once again I can NEVER get sick of this song. Here is the commercial below:

Winter Wonderland!

Here are a few pictures and videos from our Christmas with my mom's extended family up in the Blue Mountains in NE Oregon. It was, as Chris says "a truly winter wonderland". The trip was wonderful and it was Chris's first WHITE Christmas with some real experiences with sledding and deep snow!

Above are videos of our sledding adventures. sorry the second one is bumpy because it was a "rocky" ride down.

Chris showing off his stuff

Here is a short clip of Chris Wakeboarding when we were at Baker Lake with my Family. This was one of his first times in a while. I wish I would have had the camera out the second day we went out because he was like 20 times better the next day.
