...So as the crazy day wound down, as we went from having 3 kids in our house (well actually Chris's parents' house) to 6 to 7 to 2 back to 7 kids... we finally wound down with the usual three kids (Heather's children) who were quietly and quickly placed in bed.
WHEW!
As I sat reading my latest book and Chris on the computer filling his fantasy baseball team roster for the next day, Chris' mom began to pick up some of the little ones' mess. Chris' attention was caught by a red barrel... and subdued silliness ensued by two full grown (seemingly mature) adults (and when I say 'adult' I mean it to be pronounced with the short-A sound, like in "bat"... is sounds way more grown up and profound that way)
That is right... Chris and I quietly sat on the upstairs red couch as we hunch over a plastic barrel filled with un-anatomically correct monkeys... I mean come on... these monkeys must not have any wrist if they can bend into a perfect "s" curve!
I think the more time we spend around the younger generation... the more me and my husband act like them. (SIDE NOTE: for instance, right as I type my husband is playing on his nephew's Nintendo DS and is shaking the whole bed as he tries to push the buttons fast enough). Thus as I began to wow Chris with my excellent monkey-picking-up-skills he began to get that pout-y child face which so many of our nieces and nephews have got down pat. In his best baby toned voice (by the way Chris is an EXPERT impersonator) he states "it's not fair! you get so many monkeys... you're too good!".
Thus to appease my whiny husband we started the game over by properly shaking up the monkeys in the barrel and establishing more clear cut rules. At this point I mentally decided that I would take one for the team and let my Husband win... I just love to see him smile too much not to(but DON'T tell hims this!) He proceeded to win as he "masterfully" chained together these Florescent-colored-cheap-Chinese-plastic-inaccurately-depicted-monkeys and claimed...
...so you may see me browsing the target toy aisles come September to get my dear husband his "barrel of fun" for his birthday.

This is awesome -- I could totally see this go down. Actually, it brings back memories of when you guys were engaged and used to play all sorts of games in our living room. I've never seen board games be so intense... :)
PS. Your new background is adorable!
You guys are too funny! I am so glad that the simple things put smiles on your faces. Thanks for watching Brady, you rock!
Tell me what you think!
