BeanTown

In May, Chris and I took a trip to Boston.  Chris wanted to check out a residency program out there so we decided to turn it into a vacation.

We had a great time! Boston is a really cool city.   We got to pretty much do all that we wanted to do.  It was pretty good weather except two of the days it rained on us- but we didn't let that spoil out plans.

Here is a quick overview of what we did...

  • We went to Fenway to watch the Red Sox beat the Tigers. It was a beautiful night in a great ball park!
  • Went to the Boston Commons- Saw the "Ducklings" and "Swans" and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.
  • Window Shopped on Newbury Street, while taking in the beautiful architecture
  • Drooled of the homes on Commonwealth
  • Did the total tourist thing.. The DUCK Tour- which was a great, quick way to see the whole city
  • Checked out Harvard and tried to imagine what it would be like to be smart enough to go there
  • Drove up to New Hampshire and Vermont to check out some church history sites.  We saw the spot Joseph Smith had his leg surgery, Dartmouth, Joseph Smith's birthday/Vistor Center, Turnbridge, and enjoyed the beautiful back roads in these areas
  • Drove through Salem (it was pouring rain and at night so we didn't really get to do much there).
  • Did the Freedom Trail- cool to see all the amazing Historical sites.  We only did one paid "tour" of Paul Revere's home
  • Climbed all the way to the top of Bunker Hill Monument.. all 294 steps!  But the views of the city were pretty cool from there
  • Drove out the Lexington/Concord.  It was raining that day to so we would quickly hop out and see things and then drive to the next spot.  We do to see some of my favorite writers homes and tombstones- Emerson, Thoreau, Alcott, Hawthorne.  Loved the beautiful neighborhoods.
It was great and I definitely think I could live out there if Chris got into the residency program. We took so many pictures so here is a slide show of all of them.
